How to Clean a Blender?

If this question arose, most likely the blender was not washed immediately and small pieces stuck to the knives and the walls of the bowl. After all, you won’t scrub plastic parts with boiling water, and you won’t handle the knives with a brush. It’s good if there is a dishwasher, but will detergents and hot air damage the drying mode to the gearbox or plastic parts? In fact, cleaning a blender is easier than it seems, you just need to know a few tricks. Blenders differ in design, cleaning methods will be different.

How to Clean a Stationary Blender with a Bowl (Shaker)

These devices have a large glass or polymer bowl, on the bottom of which there are chopper knives. Getting to them with a brush and cleaning mechanically is not easy, but such a blender is easy to clean if you pour warm water into the bowl with the addition of dishwashing detergent and run for half a minute, at medium speed.

Most fragments will be washed off immediately, and especially persistent ones will separate if you leave the solution in the bowl for half an hour. Next, rinse the bowl under a stream of clean water.

Before storing the appliance, dry it, otherwise, a musty smell may appear. The stationary part with the motor and the switch must not be washed; if necessary, the surface is wiped with a damp cloth or a towel with soapy water.

How to Wash a Gourmet Blender

If a whisk for whipping a blender or even a powerful mixer is easy to clean, then you will have to tinker with the leg in which the knives are located, protected from accidental contact with a special skirt. The blender leg does not disassemble. And if you do not remove the remnants of food from under the knives in time, and the place where the shaft comes out of the leg, you can even irreparably ruin the nozzle. Dirt forms a crust or worse, it starts to deteriorate, an unpleasant odor and mold appear.

Well, if the body of the legs is metal. Such a blender can be lowered into hot food, as well as boil the nozzle in a separate pan or drive in the dishwasher at maximum speed.

ATTENTION! Do not attempt to sanitize blender parts in the oven or microwave. In the first case, you spoil the seals and bushings of the shaft rotation, and in the second you burn the microwave.

After washing and heat treatment, attach the motor block to the leg, lower it in warm (and metal can be in hot) water and turn it on for 20-25 seconds. Inspect the knives; if necessary, turn them on and lower them in the water again.

If residues of softened dirt remain on the shaft or under the knives, remove them with a cotton swab and rinse the nozzle under a strong stream of water.

Blender with a Chopper Bowl

Universal blenders, in addition to direct nozzles, are equipped with a bowl with an S-shaped knife for chopping ice meat, nuts, etc. In the lid of the bowl, there is a gear reducer, which reduces the speed of rotation and increases the force of movement of the blades. With this gear cover, you should be especially careful. Be sure to check whether it can be washed with complete immersion in water, otherwise, the gearbox may jam and the part will fail, and in most cases, the cover with gears cannot be disassembled and will be hopelessly damaged.

A knife with a shaft and a bowl can be washed quite easily. If adhering pieces still remain, they can easily be removed with warm water and a washing solution. Even knives can be cleaned with a sponge, moving from the shaft along with the knife. Be careful the knives are very sharp.
